Materials

The choice of material should depend on the climate you live in, as well as the plants you want to keep in there.

Concrete planters: They are the most popular choice because they are durable and can survive any climate. Concrete planters might be a more expensive option but they will be useful in the long run. They protect your plants during winter and keep them well isolated from the harsh weather.

Plastic planters: Planters made of plastic are a budget-friendly option, but they might clash with your overall design because they usually look very artificial. They are still pretty durable and can survive winter outside without any damages. Plastic planters do have some drainage issues so make sure you don't drown your plants.

Wood planters: These planters will fit right in and they will look amazing in your garden, especially if you are going for a rustic and natural theme. Some of these planters can be quite expensive, depending on the type of wood they are made of. Wood planters do have a good drainage system and will keep your plants secure during colder months of the year.

Terra-cotta planters: Planters made of clay or terra-cotta look amazing but they are quite fragile. These planters will crack easily if you leave them outside during winter. Extremely warm weather is not good for them either. However, they will provide excellent drainage to your plants and keep the roots healthy.

Models

Finding the ideal planters that will correspond well to your garden or patio design shouldn't be too difficult. There are various different models to choose from so let's take a closer look at some of the most popular designs.

Plant pot: Even a small number of standalone plant pots can completely transform the general feel of your garden. They will look great on your patio as well! No garden is complete without a plant pot or two.

Window box: If you are dealing with small spaces, window boxes can help you out. They come in different shapes and sizes so you'll be able to find the right model for you. They can be placed everywhere: window, garden, flowerbed, patio, balcony, etc.

Raised garden beds: These planters have excellent drainage and they will add a whole new layer of plants to your flowerbed. Raised garden beds are super useful if you are making different landscapes in your yard.
